a15 front sprocket question
Just got back at 55 mph indicated its turning maybe 3850 rpm, and 60
mph was just over 4000 rpm.
Going to guess 70 would be about 4500 rpm or so, really dont think
the KLR would mind anything under 5000 rpm for an hour or so, which
is about as far as I might go without stopping typically.
If I am going farther than that, im in my truck with the A/C going
and the CD player cranked up.
Much rather hit a deer in my full size truck than any motorcycle.

Ah yes, Upper Michigan. I have many fond memories of snowmobiling there. However, I now live in Montgomery, AL where everyone goes 70 in the 55 zones and 85 on the interstates. I did like the 15T but was afraid that too much 80-85 mph was wearing on the poor, pathetic thing. Now it's more relaxed on the highway, but I do miss the push of the 15T. Got my A1 running much better- thanks to all the replies
and suggestions to solve the bad throttle-down response.
(some of?) the problems turned out to be:
1. a clogged pilot air jet (the off-center passageway).
2. slightly clogged pilot adjust 4-hole cluster.
3. a slightly gummy slide valve. (I hand-worked/polished
the slide for a good hour- very smooth action now)
4. a missing micro o-ring from the "coasting enricher"
(I'm really sure it was there prior to last reassembly
but I no-doubt fumbled due to spring pressure and knocked it out...)
I didn't have an o-ring that size so I fabbed some from a
tire patch tube using 2mm and 5mm diameter (approx size) brass tubes
to punch out a few. (I've also used tire patch for a torn
diaphragm before, so definately vesatile stuff
Supplemental mods:
1. raised the needle a notch with a micro washer I found laying around.
2. driled out off-center slide hole 7/32" (call me conservative)
Oh, and as a side note, invest in the highest quality (yet compact)
inline fuel filter you can get; those cheap ones with the gold/brass
colored elements keep driveway gravel out but that's about it...
(they're ok for "emergency use" I suppose, in your tool kit)

a15 front sprocket question
Also noticed tonight if I gave it decent throttle and pretty much all
the clutch on take off I was squacking the the rear tire pretty much
into 4th gear (at each gear change).
Since I dont really ride highway much, I prefer the extra torque to
the rear wheel, now to get these K750's wore out and replaced with
something a little more forgiving in the dirt.
Even I am saying "Factory Rim Protectors" now, after doing some
serious offroading. Hard pack and rock the K750s are fine, loose
sand they absolutely blow chunks. Mud... hahahah forget about it..
