I had a good ride today. Two buddies and I ( all KLR's ) took a spin up the Trans Labrador Highway. 570 kms of gravel round trip. It was cool, about 10C { 50F}, but it didn't rain.
First chuckle was one of my friends getting nailed by the local cops. 121 km/h in a 70 zone. We were right behind him, but he drew the ticket!
Later in the afternoon we took some detours down some rarely used side roads and things got ugly. I got a little too far off road and into some mud. Trying to avoid getting stuck I tried climbing a 5 or 6 foot high embankment. It was steeper than I realized, and I flipped the bike. Then I got really stupid and tried to hang on to the bloody thing. BAD IDEA!! Lucky for me, the machine fell off to one side instead of completing the loop and landed upside down on my toes!
Damage : Bruised knee, bruised ego, tailight lens destroyed, right side mirror popped and a few more minor scratches for the plastic.
I guess I shouldn't have laughed so hard at my friends speeding ticket!!
Still, we had fun!
