mesh jackets

Jim - aren't you the guy looking at getting a bike for your son? Anyway - I got the Joe Rocket - Phoenix - which I think is the same as what Jim mentions here. I've had it for nearly a year. My bike is my commuter here in Phoenix,AZ because it never rains, so I wear it EVERY day. I don't treat the jacket special - it's thrown on the floor the minute I get home. And I haven't had one problem with it. The jacket is totally breathable, comfortable, and let's hope I never test the armor. >Personally, I'm not fond of mesh jackets. For summer riding I wear a
Belstaff Zodiac which is made of Airdura and has body armor in it. It will keep bugs, dirt and other road spew off your shirt, but still breathes quite well. It will also offer better protection in rain than a mesh jacket.

I'm considering selling my 01' KLR. I haven't decided 100% yet. Most of my riding (besides commuting to work) has been 'get from point A to B quickly' about 350 miles at a time. I never get the chance to ride off road, so I am considering going back to a sport bike like a VFR or buying a used GS (please don't flame me). I love the bike, but I'm just not using it to it's potential. It has less than 12,000 miles on it. I've got a few pictures at http://www.home.earthlink.net/~dnmwilhite. The windshield is from a Katana 600 (I have the stock one). SU Racks with Givis. Highway pegs. Acrebis low mount fender (I have the stock one). New front Distanzia tire. Rear Gripster tire with about 1000 miles left (I'm ordering a new distanzia soon). I also just bought some new gel grips for it. I've got the stock 15 tooth front sprocket along with a 14T and a 16T. Bike is in good condition. Some of the plastic has faded (it happened in the first six months and the dealer just said 'too bad'). I'll be honest and let you know up front I've laid it down twice, once at Deal's gap and once with a wheelie gone bad. There are some minor scratches on the tank that aren't through the primer layer of paint. However, the plastic shrouds on the front of the tank do keep rubbing paint off of the tank where they meet. There is a small dent (from my knee) on the left side when I fell on the right side (go figure) on my wheelie gone bad. It's not too noticeable from a distance, but it's obvious up close. Hey it's a KLR and a dual sport right. If your interested, pmail me. Later
