very klr - alcan 5000 awards dinner - i'd like a ride buddy calgary

From The Great White North, A few days ago I posted a message to another group (see below for copy). Basically mentioned what had happened to Tumu and how we pulled together and set him right again. I'd also sent a message to Tumu mentioning that I'd like to get together when he finishes if possible. Anyway, shortly after my post I received an brief email and an invitation from Jerry Hines the event Chairman, inviting me and a guest to the awards banquet in Jasper Alberta on the evening of the 22nd of August. I plan on running up there on "The Prodigal Son" and spending the night somewhere...... Unless it's snowing. If there is anyone who wants to ride up to Jasper with me next Thursday give me a shout. I'll probably stay at a hostel or ???????? For the night and return to Calgary on Friday as I have a dinner that night also that I must attend. Dinner's on Jerry and we'll get a chance to hear some great stories and meet "dat brooklyn bum" in person. Anyway, give me a shout if you're interested. Regrettably the invitation was only for myself and 1 friend so first come wins..... Phone or email ANYTIME. Three weeks ago Tumu had his bike stolen in NYC. He'd already ante'd up the $2500.00 entry fee and his chances of making this ride were nil. That was till a bunch of us on the KLR list decided to raise enough money in donations to get him a new mount for the trip. Some of the dealers on the list also helped out as did others that volunteered their time to get his bike all tricked out for the ride. We all have an interest in how Tumu "da Brooklyn bum" does because it was, in a large part, the fellowship of the KLR list that got him there!! He has quite a big following on the KLR list. Shame it won't be televised. Dave [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
