lost my muffler to vibration.

Post by scooterguysf » Mon Aug 12, 2002 2:13 pm

I have an A-16 (2002) with 3300 miles. This past Saturday on my way home from a day's ride, the muffler fell off the bike onto the freeway (no recovery possible). I guess the bolts/nuts/clamps had vibrated so loose that the entire assembly was not supported and BOOM...away it went. So, now that I'm in the market to replace it, I am seeking suggestions or comments about how to proceed. I liked the soft purr of the factory muffler but to replace with an OEM part will run over $400 and 3-4 business days to recieve it, yet alone installation time. Is there another brand/model that will be appropriate and not noisy and still not break my budget? I'm also curious if anyone might have a good working condition extra muffler (maybe you replaced factory with after-market and could sell your old one?). In either case, I'm open to suggestions and input. Thanks Mark San Francisco

Mark, What did the dealer say? Shouldn't that be covered under warrantee? Allan

Paid $125.00 + shipping. Very similar to the 'flat' Corbin, but a little softer. By softer, I mean the foam cushion compresses easier, the Corbin feels firmer. Vast improvement over the stock seat on long hauls. Still possible to suffer monkey-butt if you stay in the saddle long enough but I have done 600+ miles in a day on the stock seat and the Sport Tour seat, and I was much happier with the Sport Tour. Cheers, Steve A11
