Dave,
Not to worry, I traveled 1200+ hours in 2 days when I left Seattle
for Moab. Fully loaded KLR, Gripsters, stock seat, etc. No monkey
butt.
I've met Tumu & he's wimpy looking (145 lbs max) but he sure can
hold his own while scarfing down Old Thumper ale. He does have
excellent taste in TP selection.
I'm in the minority, the stock seat is (marginally) OK. I use a
large folded bath towel placed under my butt, sheepskin would be a
bit better.
I seem to recall several KLR riders that have covered 700 or more
miles in one day. My preference is for 300 mile days, with frequent
stops to smell the roses. I avoid highways as much as possible.

ps: It's the journey that counts, the destination is secondary.
Life is a journey, enjoy the ride.
