tool kit replacement/upgrade...

Post by jmt_usa » Mon Jun 03, 2002 3:25 pm

Hello group, After using the tools in the standard KLR tool kit I was thinking about suitable upgrades that could fit in the same place or store elsewhere. Well, thanks to my toolbox strap coming lose during a weekend romp I've lost my tool kit and now have the opportunity to `upgrade'. Which aftermarket kits or specific combinations of would you include if you wished to replace the originals?

My favorite starting place for a replacement tool kit is a BMW car kit.

You will adore the Sherpa. And, if you ride it, you may even come to prefer it to the KLR. It's a billy-goat bike: it'll take you up anything. The extra-low standover height is sweet, and the light weight makes it feel like a toy! It's got adequate suspension for me, 150lbs; handles like a dream off-road; has tons of guts; is incredibly low-maintenance; built tough. Change the stock tires and open the pilot jet 1/4 turn and it's ready to go like mad. You won't be disappointed with the Sherpa. Go for it. (FWIW, my wife is 5'2", 110lbs, short legs. The KLR250 fits her body (ie. upper body positioning) like a glove; her short legs mean she's tippytoe when stopped. She can pick up the bike -- barely (depends on the adrenalin level, I think!) I think it's going to be a superb bike for her.)

Does anyone have any other ideas? Should I just order another Stock Kit from KAW?
