retro fit electric start

Post by harley_rider53 » Sat May 11, 2002 7:46 pm

Just picked up a used klr600, 1984 vintage, price was right and runs well. It is a pig to start, is there a retro-fit electric starter for this model? Thanks...

cam/balancer chain problem

Post by kristof_robberechts » Sun May 12, 2002 6:44 am

Yesterday my engine stalled with a sound of a chain coming loose, and it wouldn't start again. Opened the engine this morning, and found that both cam and balancer chain were broke ! Has anybody ever experienced something like this ? Also, I need all the info I can get about timing of the balancers and cams, as I haven't got the bike's manual. I see a lot of arrows, T's and dots on the cams an balancers, but don't have a clue how to set them. And how should I get new chains back on it ? I suppose new chains (if I can get them) are going to be already closed, and I really don't want to disassemble the whole engine. The bike's a '85 KLR600.
