balancer adjustment

For those that have had the balancer chain assembly apart. How many full (360 degree) turns of the balancer lock bolt is safe before it lets go and a billion pieces fall apart into the crankcase? Sometimes turning out 2 turns then tight again doesn't feel like enough. Thanks West [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

West, I have observed/done the adjustment with the left side cover off - one full turn (360 degrees) is plenty sufficient for the lever inside to be activated by the spring and move to its new adjustment point. Richard in Tucson 94 KLR650 86 VFR750

Richard, Thank you very kindly for the post. I have been using Elden Carl's method. I am very happy to have your observation. -- Marc, Kawasaki KLR650 A12, Loveland, Colorado, USA ----Original Message-----

Carl's method. I always use one 360 turn and the same method as Eldon, works for me. Bill A12 24,000 miles and running great

balancer adjustment

Post by Ian S. » Sun May 05, 2002 12:32 am

Hey all. I adjusted my balancer "thingy" today, and after i was done the bike seemed to produce a very slight buzz near that area(and it aint killer bees). Now I am worried that I messed something up. I followed good directions, but i didnt use a torque wrench, i winged it. Should I adjust it again? Any advice is appreciated. PS:: I have done this procedure before, and i have never gotten this strange sound. Thanks, Ian aka Maniac A7 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

gas tank & body parts replacement

Post by lbank84 » Sun May 05, 2002 8:14 am

I was wondering about replacement body parts and gas tanks with more capacity that are plastic. Are there any companies out there that make replacement tanks for the KLR and replacement body parts (different colors)?
