are green bikes really unlucky?

Post by klr650_a15 » Wed Feb 27, 2002 9:41 am

I don't post on the list too much I think the last post was last year when I was hit by lighting. Sunday I wiped out the rear 1/4 panel of a car with the "cactus killer". I was going between 40-50 and an old man pulled out about 50 ft. in front of me and stopped blocking most of both lanes. I locked em up and kept control of the bike but there was nowhere to go. I knew I was going to hit the car so I pushed out and up on the bars when I hit so I would clear the car. I flipped head over heals over the trunk and hit flat on my back about 20 ft. on the other side of the car. OUCH!!! Aparrently nothing is broke on me and the bike actually held up pretty well. I posted pics under photos that my wife took as I wasn't really able to get up out of bed.See the folder "Roy's 2001 crash". I told my wife "maybe the old bikers tale about green bikes being unlucky is right". She said "you're alive maybe it's wrong" Roy in Marble Falls TX

Sounds like green bikes are unlucky for you. Don't by a green ZRX1100. Not only will you wreck, but you'll be going a heck of a lot faster! Might I suggest a Pacific Coast in Clam Shell white [g] Get well soon and get back on two wheels. Gino

Roy, I am glad you are OK. I think your wife was right about green being NOT unlucky. The thought of people pulling out in my path scares the crapola out of me. I guess you just have to be as careful as you can. Take care and I hope you are riding again soon. Brad NC

Roy, Sorry to hear of your crash and big air with bummer landing. Get well soon. I don't know if it is the green bike bad luck. But I am riding th OD green a16 that I bought last September from Lisa at the Kawasaki shop in Marble Falls. Maybe it is the ungodly yellow - orange mountain style parka that I wear that negates the green bike hex. But it was on hand when I bought the bike, it is gore tex with nylon cordura, big enough to fit easily over my Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket with pads. It even has a hood that is rolled up in the collar so it looks like I am wearing a anti whiplash neck collar under the helmet. This jacket is so bright it PARALYZEZS the "Pull out from the siders" and "the oncoming left turners". This coat is so brightly dorky that "Ironjungle" even saw me on a freeway type road. Maybe a really ugly brite coat will help. Billy in Dripping Springs Tx
