any hp laserjet experts? nklr

Any HP LaserJet experts out there? My T45 all of a sudden decided that it doesn't want to print the bottom half of the line now. I have realigned the print cartridges and cleaned them using the desktop function. These are new ink cartridges too. Any other ideas? Gino

take out the print cartridges and make sure there is no crap stuck to the bottom of them where the ink comes out, take a lint free cloth and wipe them off gently, make sure there is no lint or anything else stuck in the carrier that the cartriges go into. Other than that you may have a bad print cartridge I've seen it happen. Trev A16 and major computer geek :-)

Putting ink cartridges in a LaserJet may be the problem. Mark B2 A2 A3

I couldn't resist being a wise ass. Anyway, I've had good luck by just resting the print head on a moist, folded paper towel and letting the paper towel dissolve any gunk on the print head as well as draw some ink through the nozzles to reestablish flow. Mark B2 A2 A3

By bottom half of line I am assuming you mean the letters ? If so, it sounds like they may be plugged, various methods work for me, Q-Tip with rubbing alcohol over the nozzle area ( bottom gold part) the cart. Pull the cart out and use a pencil eraser on the contacts carefully to clean them little squares on the side of the cart. Re-Insert. If above fail, replace cart, or do like I would do, toss the HP in the trash and replace with a nice Canon printer. Can get a nice Color S-450 ( with USB even ) for like $75, 4 Ink Tanks are alittle more $$$ than just one (of the two) HP brand carts, but each tank holds more ink, and costs less to replace say just the "Red" if you fancy printing just one color alot. Again just my opinion, I like Canon printers, single tanks are super easy to re-fill if you really want to save some cash also. Not to mention if you want to print a photo, the Canon prints ahellalot better again IMHO. There is my $.03 worth. Duden BJC-6000 for $9.99 when onsale, after Canon rebate and Best Buy instore $20 gift card. You betcha I like it alot... ;-) The Photo printhead I bought for printing just photos cost me 4 times as much as the whole printer. Again IMHO, dont bother for the photo printhead, marginal quality improvement and added 3 more ink tanks I now get to keep full. Standard color/black printheads print very nice as is.

When I worked for Epson, they said that you have to do a head cleaning 3 to 8 times to get it all done. by then you are out of ink.. Dale

Don't be surprised if you find out it's not a printer problem, but something in the computer settings or connections. A Laserjet is one of my arsenal here at my office and a couple of years ago it was doing the same thing. It was a computer set-up problem in that instance, but since we use consultants to fix them I can not tell you what it was.

Did this problem start when you replaced the ink? With most HP Inkjet printers, the print head is replaced with a new Ink cartage. Maybe you got a bad one...... Try replacing the subframe bolts and make sure the balancer chain is adjusted correctly. Ink jet printers pretty much disposable. An 18 month life span is not uncommon. An entry level HP printer is about 50 bucks. I've even seen them for 38.00 at Wally World. They work fine if you don't need photo quality..... Jason

Just call me a bottom feeder. I'm still using a cheap hp inkjet that I bought in '91. Haven't had a single problem except jets getting clogged which isn't a problem with the printer itself. I think Gino has the same problem we do here in Tempe AZ. Today the humidity was less than 5%. Dries them jets out if you don't use them every few days. As long as I print a page every couple of days, I don't have a problem... Steve A. in AZ
