Is anybody else getting bored stiff with all the attention bike magazines are giving Cruisers these days? The latest Rider magazine was mostly about them...totally boorrring!! I guess the mags are catering to what is selling these days...and that would be... Cruisers. Brad __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yeah, but now you can check their stats and at least you know which ones not to butt heads with at a red light! (I DO know that the rider's skill is 75% of the equation)

How about a cruisin dual sport, lots of chrome, leather fringe, really high bars, fishtail pipes, try to image the picture, --- Brad Davis wrote:

And the rider's choice of Motorcycle says ALOT about their skill! My experience with Harley riders I meet at a red light is they look the other way and ignore you. By not acknowledging you, they don't have to acknowledge that a bicycle could probably take them when the light turns green. That would not look cool at all - and that is the point, isn't it? Jason

In the 25 + years I've been reading them the mags/rags have gone down hill big time. I don't know if the fault lies with a dumbed down readership or the editors and writers. The major mags used to give you a complete technical description when a new model was introduced, no more. For example, when testing the Yamaha FZ whatever ( the new standard ) last year nobody mentioned what improvement allowed valve adjustment intervals of 28k miles. The old Road Rider, now MCN, had writers that would actually perform scheduled maintenance on bikes they tested. To use the FZ again as an example, I would have liked to have known just how difficult that valve adjustment was. Not one write up informed if the shims were under or over bucket. I don't consider myself one of the most mechanically adept or knowledgeable members of this list even though I do a lot of my own work. Yet, the rags are not even up to my level. If I see another 600 comparo I'll loose my lunch and as has been mentioned the cruiser evaluations are truly a waste of time. All they mention is styling, riding position and how torquey the engine is. Bogdan

Amen! Well said. I too, would like to see more mechanical write ups, rather that which 600 is an ounce lighter than last year.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Motorcyclist (or was it Cycle World?) wrote up the ZR-7S a few months back and nowhere did they mention suspension adjustability or any real technical info on the 25-year-old KZ mill in that bike. I guess they assume that everyone who reads that mag has owned a bike with that oil/air-cooled four at some point. I'd like to be able to rely on the magazines for some solid information that I can use to compare this bike to the ZRX but unfortunately I can't. Good thing there's a mailing list for both bikes... Not all bike magazines are talking about Cruisers.......I haven't seen anything in Dual Sport News about them. Mike

matbe dualsport news should do a cruiser, you know, take it out in the dirt, jump a few logs, run it up a muddy hill, a stream crossing might be interesting. Any volunteeer riders, and they'd need a big winch. --- Walter Lesnowich wrote:
