piston speed

Post by cohassetsteve » Wed Dec 19, 2001 2:32 pm

I posted this to the Concours group and thought you guys might enjoy it as well.... This may be a little off subject but I thought somutha gearheads might get a kick outta this...I was curious whether I was over working the KLR by running at 70 mph at 5000 RPM on the street and made me start thinking about piston speed...Check out this little web page I created that compares the piston speed for a Connie, KLR650 and a baby Ninja EX250...Pretty interesting, three very different engine types with very similar piston speeds at redline...I guess those engineers know what they're talking about after all... http://www.viertell.com/bikes/piston_speed.htm Slow day at work... :( Steve Viertell, Chico, CA '01 Concours, "Smurfie" '01 EX250, "Ninjita" '01 KLR650 "Karl" COG 4274 IBA 6049 WA6ZGK www.viertell.com/bikes/>
