It just depends on whether you want to be able to lock your valuables or not. I recently got the JcWhitless box that was around $59. I really like it. It works very well. It's nice because it can be removed with the key, and then your left with a flat mounting surface, not unlike what the KLR's rack is. So you can still use the rack normally. It also has a handle so you can use the box as luggage it you go on a trip. I just leave mine on there and use it as a trunk/glovebox. It's great for shopping, fits a full face helmet, and is big enough ti lay a binder in there flat. Ryan

Mitch - I use the Kawasaki soft tail bag and love it! Obviously, its not lockable, but its a very nice piece; holds a TON of stuff. The front attachment straps are a liitle bit of a pain in the a$$ to fish through under the rack, but it's an acquired "art". One thing; make sure you bevel the bottom rear edges of the plastic rack center piece where the straps contact it. If you don't, they'll saw through the attachment straps. I too use the Kawasaki bag and love it. I bought a set of 4 small masterlocks that all use the same key. I use them to lock the zipper tangs together when I need to. I like that it has a low profile when going off-road so you can throw your leg over when you want to get on or off, plus it can expand if necessary. I don't like the fact that you can't use it with a passenger. I'm not sure what Tom was talking about with respect to beveling. I haven't done that and have no wear problems after 3000 miles. -Bryan A12 Tucson

I've got both, and use them at different times. I use the tailbag when I'm out in the country for a day, don't need to worry about security, and just want to carry the tools, jacket liner, some water, and odds and ends. I got the Chase-Harper 4400, and it fits perfectly on the Givi tailbox (or OEM) mounting plate. It's about 11" tall, 12" wide, and 10" front to back. $67 on sale with shipping. It's less bulk and weight (up high) than the Givi 45 (which is still a fine box when you need more room, security and weather protection). Jett

Mitch, I went to Wally World and purchased a soft sided cooled that fits the tail rack perfectly, it has the hard plastic shell inside. I removed the shell and cut a piece of plexiglas to fit bottom, removed three (I think) of the screws from the rack and used countersunk ones to sandwich the cooler bottom. Insert the plastic shell and done. It has worked great, as a cooler and as a trunk. It is almost waterproof. The only bad part is you lose easy access to the tool kit, but my KLR never breaks down so no big deal(yet).
