Greetings All - Just had an interesting experience with Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse. Was going to order a couple of front tires; they quoted $28 for UPS ground shipping!!! When I asked why so much, the nice lady informed me that they just assume that the items will be shipped from the warehouse furthest from you. It would be OK, however, to call them after receiving the items, ask from where they were REALLY shipped, and request a shipping charge adjustment. What a hassle, and what a poor way to do business!!! Her computer told her they had the tires in stock, but I guess not where. I've probably overpaid shipping charges several times without knowing it. What a sneaky, underhanded way to make a couple of extra bucks! I sent them a letter of protest, and will not do business with them again. Ordered the tires from a local supplier, and they'll be here mid next week for less than MAW wanted. Lesson learned (once again)? Shop locally and/or with a trusted, informed, fair guy like Fred. The big "discount" houses aren't really that cheap. Regards, Tom A14 98 DR650 94 DR350

Seems like every time I order from MAW I get the sales person whos at the end of a 14hr shift and has the patience of pitt bull. After explaining myself three times because the clerk doesn't believe the part will fit my bike, I still get the wrong part. This plus a $14 S&H fee makes me want to look elseware too. The service from Fred has been good and I've had good service and quick turnaround from Tires Unlimited too. NC Joe

The shipping costs have driven me away from MAW for the most part. About twice a year they do these specials where shipping is free ($5 on tires) but they still charge the handling fee. Since I like those cheap Kendas and the like, MAW simply cannot compete with Chaporral. They might be better overall on $160 sportbike tires. RM

The Yahoo's at Chapparral shipped me the wrong tire and then screwed me on the return UPS shipping - I had to pay "dimensional weight"!!!!!!???????? - $35.00 - UPS - NYC to California. This contradicted the printng on their own return label which said $8.00. After a letter they refunded that money and sent the correct tire - but the delays and hassle made me boycott them forever. I recommend Dennis Kirk, Dual-Star.com, and other small reputable places - some of these large shops' shipping departments have their heads up their butts! BEWARE.
