Anybody have any good methods of polishing the plastic stuff on the
KLR. Some areas are slightly faded and I was wondering if it could be
freshened up.

polish the plastic
I *think* faded is faded, and there's no going back. You might try toothpaste on a soft cloth, which should provide some abrasive cleaning action, but not so much that you'll have swirls and marks. It will almost certainly be a pain in the butt to do, but I think will provide better results than regular rubbing compound. When the bike is clean, I wax it, (metal and plastic), with the one wax I use for everything, Meguiar's. I use their regular paste wax, but their Quick Wax might be... you know... quicker. polish the plastic
Not exactly for plastic polishing but :
Ever notice the white area of "stressed" plastic around the KLR
fairing mounting points or where the misc plastic has gotten bent??
These white areas can be made to disapear with the application of
controlled heat. I have carefully used a propane torch, but I am sure
a heat gun would work better.
