cover over the airbox opening

Post by bkowal@cgocable.net » Fri Nov 30, 2001 9:59 pm

Well I picked up the 2000 KLR 650 today, rode it a few hours, now it's time to start tinkering. After removing the right side cover I quickly removed a plastic baffle that goes over the airbox opening. Does anyone know what this obvious source of restriction does? My first guess is that it tries to keep dirt out of the intake. It it safe to place this plastic thing in the bottom of a box on a shelf in the garage or is it actually required. The guys at Kawasaki wouldn't put it there if it didn't have a purpose so I just want to understand what it does before it chuck it. Bryan A14

That's not the one, but thanks for passing it along - the story and pictures were great. Wise men still seek Him...
