nklr - suzuki v-strom to the us
Sounds like Suzuki would be better off with an SV-Strom, using the
SV650 mill. I'd give up some horsepower to get decent mileage,
especially if I was going down long dirt roads.

nklr - suzuki v-strom to the us
I consistantly got about 28-29MPG. Tossed an exhaust valve thru the
side of the head before I hit 9K (if I remember correctly). Perhaps
you remember (I recognize the TLryder address). Cost more to fix it
than what the bike was worth. I bailed.

It's a bit different but the new Buell interests me more if, a big IF, they improve their quality control and thus reliability. Same weight as this Suzuki. Less regular maintenance than any motorcycle ever. Hydraulic valves, self adjusting belt final drive. Hope the fuel injection is sorted out. 50mpg (so they say). I feel the same way. I could have removed some plastic off my VFR
and produced the same results.
I would like the bike to look a lot more dirt worthy; give me the
Africa Twin.

Seems like the same guy who designed the KLR balancer system changed companies was promoted and then headed the team that designed this motor. What's happened to the legendary Japanese moto-engineering ? And people are salivating to own this bike ??? The word "strom" means "current" -- as in electric current -- in German. Suzuki built this bike for the German market. Only afterward did they decide to gamble on selling it in the U.S. I for one hope they win their gamble, and I'm going to do my part to help by buying one. I'd have to agree with West, they got two out of the three words
in "sport enduro tourer" right in the article. Looks like it'd
make a great sport tourer, but enduro? Come on, if that's the
case, then slap some knobs on a Ducati Monster and you've got a
"sport enduro tourer".
Someone's gotta talk Highland into exporting to us (U.S.). That
would/could qualify as an enduro tourer, IMHO.

Yea, Ithink i remember, Something is not right with the motor,
Suzuki shops in theis area, Odessa, Midland will not even order a TL its got
such a bad rap,
