birds nesting in my tailpipe

Post by ryanwow2000@yahoo.com » Wed Oct 24, 2001 1:17 pm

In the last 300 miles or so, my A12/2200 mi. has developed an interesting little high-pitched tweet from the exhaust, like a dog whistle or a pack of very vocal finches. It kind of sounds like the pitch of a VW Bug's exhaust. I'd be lying to say it didn't annoy the hell out of me. The birds must be evicted. I'm thinking the cause is the tailpipe (stock). I tried pulling it, and couln't really hear the whistle while running, but then again I couldn't hear much of anything through the volume of an open exhaust. So here are my questions I pose to you, the high-pitched noise gurus out there: 1. Can this problem be caused by anything BUT the tailpipe? 2. Assuming it IS the tailpipe, any suggestions for fixing it w/out getting a new pipe? Thanks! Ryan A12

Ryan-- After a 3000 mile trip, i now have the cousins of your birds in my tailpipe. It seems to change a bit when i rev the engine, but there is no noise at idle. Are you from texas by any chance? I think that's where they came from. Eric. A15

As with most web pictures, you can right-click the image and choose SAVE PICTURE, which will download the actual image to your drive, or you can right-click the image, choose COPY and then in your HTML editor, paint proggie or whatever, choose PASTE. Hope that helps... Was gl nzt, is f r den Augenblick geboren, Das Echte bleibt der Nachwelt unverloren.
