consider me a lurker with something to add to the discussion on exhaust tweets.... mine developed about 5k miles or so, and got loud enough to really bother me after a while. while the solution i used was reported on this list at one point, i figured i'd add my experience as another data point in case someone else goes fishing for information in the archives as i did. first off, i gotta say that when it comes to tweety, the internet once again refused to let me down. i found the two detailed cut-it- apart-and-reweld-the-muffler pages. i especially loved the handwritten pages. reminded me of somthing out of riven--and i mean that in the best of ways. not really wanting to learn how to weld, i was intrigued by the slather-the-bottom-of-the-interior-exit-pipe-with-epoxy solution i found by trolling this list's archives. it appealed to me because it was a) easy; b) cheap; and c) i happened to have some jb weld around that wasn't doing anything--as all good (and especially bad) mechanics should. i looked at the seam at 6 o'clock inside the exhaust exit pipe. it did appar to be de-welded, but didn't appear to be separated. what the heck, i figured, and slathered it up with jb weld that i mixed and let sit for maybe 10 minutes to firm up a bit so it'd have the right consistency. of course, in the process, i ham-fingered up a few of the holes on either side of the seam, maybe from about 6:15 o'clock to 6:45 o'clock. end result? tweety disappeared, much to my surprise. can feel no power difference, fwiw. i'm thrilled. thanks to the list for the suggestion. consider this one more data point on the subject. -grant

Interesting Grant, Makes sense; Tweety starts his song when his welds break thus freeing him to sing his heart out. You welded him back in. I would have loved to see his twerpy face when you bathed him in epoxy. Not everyone has a friend in the machine shop business. I somehow missed the post that contained this solution and have never read a post referring to it before yours. BTW what does riven--and mean ? Death to Tweety, Bogdan

A little help here, please- My newly purchased A12 w/ 750 miles reads a fair bit past 12:00 as I ride down the freeway at 70 mph in 75 degree weather. Is this too hot? I'll be riding in the notoriously hot Death Valley next weekend (not to mention the jungles and swamps of Central America in january...) and I'm getting a bit worried about the condition of my cooling system. Should I be? Thanks Ryan A12
