I see Merk and others talking about the colder weather that's coming. I've got everything else under control but have not figured out a way to keep my knees warm on cold nights. I was thinking about trying a pair of athletic knee pads (small ones like soccer pads.) Has anyone found an answer for cold knees. I'm 48, maybe I feel it worse, but I know it can bring on arthritis.

widder also makes heated chaps. alot of people have said the klr can't handle gloves/vest/chaps at once, but i've used the combo for a few years now without a problem.

Knee pads will keep your knees warm, but so will foam-backed hard armor, if you get cordura pants or a winter suit that takes knee armor, you'll be set. Also, the vest help keep the rest of you pretty warm too. Once you start to get cold, your body slows down the blood to the extremities, and then your arms/legs get REALLY cold. The idea with the electric vest is to make yourself so warm that your body cools off by pumping lots of warm blood into your hands/feet etc. Devon A15 Linda Patterson wrote:

I wonder why no one has mentioned the Laser Pro Duro exhaust? I have not heard anything but praise for this pipe. It is cheaper than replacing it with an OEM (Tweety) pipe, cheaper than and better made than Big Gun. It is worlds better than either the Supertrapp or Cobra. Both my SR500's have 4" supertrapp megaphone mufflers. Not to be confused with the aluminum variety, one is chrome-plated steel, and the other is brushed stainless. Both are really, really solid and durable. I run 9 discs in both, and both are loud enough that I keep the revs under 3000rpm on neighborhood streets. I can't imagine what 18 discs must sound like. I'm glad I'm not your neighbor. And if you're counting on your awful exhaust racket to alert careless motorists to your presence, you are in for a nasty suprise. The only people who hear you coming are the ones you don't have to worry about anyway. I realize at 6 years and maybe 50,000mi on road bikes I am a bit of a lightweight compared to other riders on the list, but it makes all of us look bad. Think about the noise your bikes makes, because everybody else will be thinking about it too. Pedestrians, hikers, those f*%king tree huggers especially (they ALL vote).
