removable aux light bar - available soon!

Anybody else have this problem? The symptom is a grab-and-release, grab-and-release pulsating of the front brake. It's not a problem at higher speeds, but making smooth stops is impossible, and riding in traffic is a real pain. Is there any point trying to get the rotor ground down? Does anybody even do that on bikes? How much are replacement rotors (standard diameter, not oversized), and who, besides OEM, makes them? With a A13 and a Gran Canyon in your stable why not go for the gusto and pick up a oversized rotor from MAP also available from Fred in Moab,UT. Second try, I'm also experiencing posting problems, like a few other people. Conall, I understand where you're coming from, you just want to make a great bike even better, and normally I'd agree with you. The reason I don't want to go oversize on the front rotor is because of the way I use the bike - - reliability is more important to me on this bike than performance. I rode it around the world in 2000, and I'm taking it across Pakistan and China in 2002. I've been spending aftermarket money on bikes for 40 years, and have learned the hard way that those factory OEM engineers ain't so dumb. Do a search of the DSN KLR archives, and I think you'll find a number of references to cracked caliper mounts for the MAP installation. I'm not picking on MAP, I'm just saying I can't afford to have anything like that happen to me, for instance, in the middle of Pakistan. I've addressed the notoriously poor KLR braking with stainless steel lines, and now the braking performance itself is pretty good, so there's just no percentage for me in risking an aftermarket caliper mounting set-up. I've left the KLR painfully stock, except where reliability, already excellent on the KLR, is further enhanced, like with a heavy-duty shock, a Scottoiler, and a few other things. I understand the point you're making Bill, on the other hand I don't recall seeing reports of cracked caliper mounts. Can you point me to one? Kurt, I asked about broken Braking caliper mounts in #35144. One other lister got back to me with the same complaint. FYI, Braking doesn't sell or support that kit anymore and the M.A.P. bracket won't fit because their disc is larger. __Arden Kysely A11 "Mr. K"
