head light and taillight out

Post by wayne adamson » Thu Aug 16, 2001 11:54 pm

I just road 10 kl home in the dark. The head light and the tail light are out,but the brake light and signal lights still work?(the instrument lights are also out)This is the first time for electrical probs on my y2k KLR. I tried to search the archives, but its way too slow.I'm sure someone has had this prob before? Is it a fuse under the seat, and if so why do they blow? Please help?Thank you. Wayne

Same thing happened to me last night when I was dickering with a 12v outlet attached to those 2 free wires under the fairing. You probobly blew the fuse. Take the side panels and seat off. On top of the battery is the fuse 'box' consisting of all of two fuses! See if one's blown and replace it with the spare. Don't forget to pick up a spare next time you're at Wallmart. Don't forget to pick up a spare next time you're at Wallmart. Better yet, spend the $15 on resettable circut breakers and never replace a fuse again. Check the Archives for the simple to follow instructions. -Jim _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Jim. I did a search in the archive for the term 'circut breaker' and the only message it turned up was 36631 - the one you sent! Any chance of another clue: better search term, url, whatever? I think what you're looking for is in the Mods folder under "Files." Arden Kysely A11 "Mr. K" --- In DSN_klr650@y..., "Jonathan Sykes (SWUS)" wrote:

just go to your nearest napa ,auto zone, pep boy's or any other good parts house tell them you want a fuse box circuit breaker . they used to be popular on ford trucks they should have no problem find them in stock . My napa store had them in three amp levels 15-20-30 I use the 15 so far no problem no smoky wires Jim Gregory Arkansas

I will get a new one at canadian tire to replace the spare. If it blows again I will do the mod under files-mods-fusebreakermod at the KLR site or Arne Larsen's fuse box modification, that I think I got from his site. I can't find Arne's site right now. Does anyone have the url for Arne's site? Anyway thank you for the response's I'm going riding......................Wayne
