tire recommendations please

Post by scbechtold@yahoo.com » Sun Jul 22, 2001 10:16 am

Hi group. It's time for new tires on my KLR 650 and I was wondering what tires are the best for 80% road and 20% off road. I've heard that Avon makes tires for the KLR that last much longer than the stock ones. But I can't remember what model. Also, where is a good (read reasonable) place to get tires on the net. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

A lot of folks use the Avon Gripster AM24. I recently put one on my bike and have been pleased with the results. Try : www.arrowheadmotorsports.com or www.denniskirk.com Cheers, Steve A11

Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara for front. Sticky and will go at least 5000 miles. $70 mail order Avon Gripster AM24 for rear. Sticks good, works on and off road, lasts 4500+ miles. $85 mail order These work well for street and hard rocky dirt Colorado style. Use good inner tubes, i.e. Dunlop, Michelin, Metzeler Steve G.

For the front wheel, how is the Metzeler Sahara on mud? When I had a Metzeler on the rear it was not fun in mud. Fireball

nklr joe rocket rhino boots for sale

I have a pair of Joe Rocket Rhino size 10 boots in very good condition that I plan to sell on eBay. They are pretty comfortable to ride in and walk in. I have mainly used them for taking long trips. The boots are a little large for me and I am looking to buy some boots geared more towards the off-road spectrum. Despite what is advertised, I have found that the boots are not 100% waterproof in very heavy rains. In normal rain, the boots perform pretty well. They have some minor scuffs and I have pictures if anyone is interested. If so contact me off the list at my email address. They retail for around $139.00 or so and I am hoping to get about half of that for them. I have taken care of them by cleaning with saddle soap and applying leather preservative/water-proofing. I'm not sure what shipping would be, but if anybody is interested, I'm sure we could work something out. I'll give the list a few days then I'll put them on eBay.
