I first used this a few weeks ago buy stuff from Arrowhead Sports - seemed I had to use this method for payment so I signed up. Well I screwed up in my order to Fred and it was posted twice - and Pay Pal took money out of my Visa account twice - then I was charged a 'service fee' for the money coming back from Fred - so now I am out $10.40 where the was supposed to be no fees and they had $360 of mine. I wanted to have them put the money back to my Visa accout but they didn't seem to want to do that - so I asked them to cancel my account - they are sending me my $360 minus a $1.50 for a check handling fee. So to use this free service cost me $11.90. Now that I have cancelled my service with them you can bet I'll not use that type of service again. My Visa card will be what I use and if a merchant can't handle that then I will go elsewhere. My 2 cents. Al Maurine Shoreview, MN A-15

I had a similar experience. I also thought it was a little weird that even tho I could give them a viable credit card number they "still" wanted my checking account number. I don't give that to "anyone"; If the card wasn't good enough then adios. Closed my paypal account. Al, if I were you I would contact your credit card customer service and place the charge "in dispute". They will explain the process over the phone. I don't think it's about the money but more so the principle of the thing. Sometimes companies get so big they totally lose touch with the fact that they are dealing with people not machines. Just need to clarify a point about PayPal - Although I had a bit of trouble using their services I did not want to imply that I had any problem with Fred at Arrowhead. It's great to have companies like Fred's to turn to with problems and parts needs. The dealer I bought my bike from is a father/son shop and I am o.k. with them but they are one of the few that I deal with locally. So for PayPal, you live and learn - for some it works great and for others not. Well, I am minutes from leaving for the BMW Rally in Redmond, OR. Should be fun arriving there on my KLR with the license plate that reads 'ALS BMW' - think I'll get shot on sight?! Back in a few weeks with 4000+ miles on the KLR - after Oregon I'm heading up into B.C. then back down into Montana and then home. Snip... Look into the National Geographic/Topo CD's. (www.topo.com) They have many of the states, and all of the National Parks (and areas around them) I have essentially planned a trip on the Oregon Back Country trail (Wa-Ca)with these 7.5 minute maps.
