Took a ride down Skyline Drive (Central Ca.) to the infamous Alice's Restaurant and parked the A15 amongst the many crotch rockets and Harley's. As I sat there downing a beer on the patio watching people walk by the bikes, it was the KLR where most were stopping, pointing, squatting down to look at, instead of the other bikes. Just found humor in it. Unless it was the small penis syndrome where they stop, point and chuckle. Not that I can relate to that. Nope. Jeff A15 San Bruno

The 1st Sunday of each month, bikers in Austin gather at Ski Shores. The KLR always gets looks. Also BMW-GS's, they get looks as well. I think that big looking dual sport bikes are just rare. Plus, in the normal sea of chrome, they stand out because they are usually dirty and look like they are riden hard. Most common questions: "How much do you pay for one of those?" and then "Can they keep up on the highway?" Pat / Austin

Kind of along the same lines, I've noticed that I'm getting FAR more waves than ever before, especially from Harley riders... Mark St.Hilaire, Sr A15 My HomePage: http://home.adelphia.net/~msaint/index.html My KLR650 Pages: http://klr6500.tripod.com/ (Under Construction)

Yeah I saw your pic on how to hold on properly. Looked technically correct to me, but I would need a closer look to verify that.

Another good place to ride is up to Mt. Hamilton in San Jose. One time I was up there I saw 4 other KLR's. You can ride from Mt. Hamilton to Mt. Diablo. A very nice ride. I think I'll be up there thursday or friday July 5 or 6. I got those days off because work is slow.

You guys are making me miss CA. I used to ride the Santa Cruz Mts. and San Jose area and consider that some of the best times of my life. I have many memories of riding over the top of Mt. Hamilton and La Honda Road to HW 1 to Red, White, and Blue Beach. You know, across from the mill - snicker. There are lots of twisties in that area. I was doing it on a '73 CB750K back then. I do remember Alice's. Is that the same one Arlo sang about? -Lance

Yep, that's the same Alice's. And I also found myself on La Honda road yesterday coming back from Hollister Hills. Speaking of Hollister Hills, that was an eye opener for riding in the dirt for the first time with the A15. Stock as it is, I'm sure it's fine for trail and old logging type roads, but certainly not dirt friendly yet. I found it heavy to maneuver through loose dirt and the suspension leaves a lot to be desired over jumps, potholes, dips, etc. Did wonderfully well on the open road though, and I found I got rid of the high speed weave if I put my right foot back on the passenger foot peg, moved my left hand to the center of the handlebars and closed my right eye.
