I don't want to take the clip any lower, I understand that would limit the airflow too much and I can't go to a smaller jet. should I screw in the mixture screw another turn or two? it is 2.5 turns out currently and running rich. At what speeds is your bike running rich? If it is running rich at slow speeds/small throttle settings, then it is the air screw adjustment set too rich or pilot jet too large. If it is in the midrange that is too rich, dropping the needle position will lean it out. If it is only running rich at fast speeds/large throttle position (3/4 to wide open) then your main jet is the culprit. If your engine is running rich at all speeds, I would suspect that you have your enrichener circuit open and needs to be looked at or your float is set too high or is leaking by the float valve. Also make sure there is no restrictions in the air filter or filter box.
Carburetors are not magic or voodoo, they can be figured out.

There is less dirt/dust inside the airbox and the air filter is
cleaner with that cutdoor+foam mod then with the stock door. Sound
level isn't noticable unless you put your ear next to the door
opening. I think it ran a little leaner with the mod but not sure. I
now changed main jet to #152 and idle screw to 2-3/4 turns. Haven't
had a chance to open it up on the highway yet. With the stock airbox
and filter I got a max speed of 95mph (100 if I'm going down hill).
very little power after 75mph with stock setup. I use California
enviro friendly (?) gas 89 octane.

Have you tried adding more air to the equation? With my BG I run a K&N filter and I've done the mod to open the airbox. Also, I installed the stage 2 dynojet kit from Fred, after I suffered a too lean meltdown. But that's another story....

anyone in denver, co area?
Hey list,
My friend Raz (another lister) and I are leaving tomorrow morning for
a trans-am ride from Montreal, Canada (east coast) to Los Angeles and
back. We should be on the road for about a month and a half.
We're looking for someone in the Denver, CO area that could hold on
to our gear for a day or two while we'll be visiting the city and its
area.
Any help would be much appreciated.
