2000 klr with red corbin seat

Post by ldroby@ma.ultranet.com » Fri Jun 01, 2001 11:01 am

Back in my BMW days, I was always envious of the European BMWs. Their bikes would always come with wild colored seats. I thought about that while I was choosing a color for my Corbin seat. Being a 2000, I first thought about green but then figured, "too green". Next was different contrasting colors. That's when I came upon the red on the tank's KLR decal. I had Corbin send a few color samples and sure enough, one matched exactly (I believe it was the Ninja Red). Knowing that if it was really bad, I could get the seat recovered, I went with the red. Three pictures of it are in the Files section for anyone to see what it looks like. BTW, the Corbin is MUCH better than the stock seat and I would say that it has been my number one upgrade. Leon, How long did it take to get your Corbin? I've been waiting over two months and I am just about ready to cancel the order. Don Detloff Fair Haven, MI A14

Don, I believe it took about 8 weeks but that was in the late fall / early winter. I remembered calling them up and never getting a status. Then all of a sudden, I called one day and it had already shipped. I'd hang in there; once you get it, you'll be glad you did. Leon Droby Uxbridge, MA Gherkin - A14

Kyle, Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_klr650 On the left side of the screen, click on Files. Click on the Body and Paint folder. Then the Red Corbin folder. There they are. Leon

I guess with this question it is time to slam Corbin for their terrible customer serveice. Back in January I called and ordered a seat for my A15, no problem getting the flat one, I even made sure he knew exactly what I was talking about, I ordered black with no basketweave crap. I asked how long and they said 4 to 6 weeks, okay and I gave them my cc number. I was looking at my card statement online and noticed that it was charged for the seat so I called and asked where it was, they told me that it was shipped and I should have it soon. I asked for the tracking number, on hold for 20 minutes and he came back and gave it to me, before I let him hang up I entered it on UPS's website and it showed a "manifest scan" this is what shows when an authorized UPS shipper enters it in the computer, but it doesn't mean that a driver ever picked it up. He told me he would look into it. I emailed UPS and they said they never even picked up my package, I called Corbin the next day and was told that it was in Illinois and it was UPS's fault which really didn't make sense. I started calling every day now and I kept asking them to remove the charge from my card and was promised that it would show up. I finally called and told them to remove it or I would have the credit card company do it, he said that they were making me a new seat and it would be done on Monday, I called Monday and asked for the tracking number, said that it wasn't done yet, I asked when and he said Tuesday, I called Tuesday and unbeleivably it was done, 7 more days for UPS shipping and I finally got it. Corbin=Poor customer service Product quality is only fair compared to others. If someone else would munufacture seats along with pans Corbin would be done. Seat now has about 1000 miles on it and is still very firm, but still better thatn stock. Maybe I will sell it. John 01 KLR 650 01 R1100SLA 01 R100s

Get some red fork gaitors and you'll have a nice contrast. 72/73, --Rick, KE4IZH KLR650-A14 '01 Blast Chesapeake, Va

installing pelicans

Post by Brad Davis » Tue Jun 05, 2001 7:09 am

What are the methods folks with Pelicans have used to mount them to their racks? It looks like I am going to get a Five Star rack for my KLR so I am beginning to think about how I'll mount the bags to them. Not having either the rack or the Pelican's yet I am wondering if you need to use some type of a layering plate on each side of the bag, you know, the sandwich principle to spread the clamping forces over more area. Or maybe you use large SS washers on both sides with silicon rtv sealant. Anyway, if some one has theirs shown on their website, or has some pictures they could send me, please let me know. Thanks, Brad __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/
