super sherpa upgrades nklr

Post by Roger Coutu » Sat Mar 10, 2001 10:52 pm

Hello, I live in Hawaii and ride my SS as a commuter during the week and for playing in the dirt on the weekend. I've owned the bike 4 months and have 2,000 miles on it with no problems. I consider myself an average rider although I've owned bikes (road & dirt) for the past 25 years. The bike is perfect for trail riding/stump jumping/mud flinging if you don't take it to extreme. However, if you feel fearless it won't disappoint but I sense that you could break the bike if overdone. Upgrades I've completed: - Moose Handlebars (original ones bent first spill) - Acerbis Handguards - Real front fender (purchased from Canberra Motorcycle Centre in Australia) - And of course a new mirror since I forgot to remove The only drawbacks I've found were the front end is a bit too heavy for casual wheelies and the exhaust too restrictive. I plan to replace the exhaust as soon as someone produces, dynojet already makes a kit for the bike. Next immediate project is to replace the tires with MT-21's. By the way, its loads of fun to run circles around the KLR-650 (the bikes too heavy to pick up, pull out of the mud, push out of the woods, can't blame them for not taking as many chances). Give me a shout if anybody has other upgrade ideas. Roger
