Too late. I emptied it on the pest. That didn't do anything, so some Sidi On-Roads with 230 pounds of down-force smashed some of the finer bones in the top of the pest's foot. Didn't want to, but had to. That's why I'm sensitive about "people minding their own business" today. He wasn't.

I don't like bikebrandism and I think we should all do our part to understand and accept other's rides. In fact, I'm going to organise a meeting to publicly discuss this vicious discrimination. I haven't decided on a venue but it will be a reasonably expensive cafe in a better part of town. Riders who live more than 15 miles away may choose to put their bikes on a special train which we have organised and the BMWOA have sponsored. All train personnel have been trained in the proper handling of a BMW motorcycle and have been supplied with kid gloves. This will be an environment where everyone can feel safe to talk about their BMW's without fear of ridicule. All topics of conversation are welcome but should stay close to one of the following.. 'I just spent another thousand on parts and...' 'Did you see the new gadget I just bought...' 'My technique for cleaning my bike is...' 'So I took my bike to the dealer again because it was still surging...' 'Did you see my new Aerostich?' 'Did you see my new BMW boots?' 'Its going be due for the 500mile service in a couple of months and...' 'My microbrewery beer is better than your microbrewery beer because...' 'I'd take in on the dirt, but there's a good chance you might drop it...' Any riders suggesting that the group should actually go riding will be asked to leave - this is intended to be a friendly forum where BMW riders should feel comfortable being themselves and we don't need people stirring up trouble like that. RSVP's only please. Rich

++++++++++++++++ Sign me up, Rich! I'll be bringing my KLR on its matching Glad Bag Green trailer, and wearing my mountain biking underwear on the outside of my anti-ballistic clown suit. I say, if ya can't beat them yuppy-butt-fuckers, join 'em! -- bierdo

Are you saying all yuppies are butt-fuckers? Are all beemer riders yuppies? Yada, yada, yada. To me, a biker, is a biker, is a biker. And there are a lot of different types of bikers out there. Why stir up all this shit? If you don't agree with those of us who ride beemers, why don't you make a sound argument instead of name-calling? If you don't like the riding suits some riders wear, give us your reasons, not criticisms without support. It just isn't very productive. Cpt. Ron Sacramento, CA

Why should everything be productive you damn capitalist? Also if you're under the illusion that many listers are productive members of this list or society in general you should face reality. Bogdan

This is the most beautiful display of irony I think I have ever witnessed...your letter demonstrates EXACTLY why we like to take the piss out of you guys! Relax, have a beer, realise that everyone will always have their own opinion but no-one is 'out to get you', practice laughing more, understand that its only a motorcycle (this'll get me shit) and that we are only on this planet for a very short time...don't be so goddamn serious!!

Cpt. Ron, Being fairly new to this group, I too find the occasional vulgarity and name calling pointless. As a certified law enforcement Chaplain and former member of the US Army, I am used to overlooking this type of language. I have long dreamed of owning a Beemer dual sport, just can't afford it yet. My KLXC3 and hopefully new KLR will have to suffice for now. I always wear my riding suit and helmet. After dropping many bikes over the years in the dirt and sustaining multiple injuries as a result of the crashes, I see nothing wrong with trying to protect the only body I'll ever have. I have seen 1st hand the lack of protection while testing Suzuki bikes for the Army in the '70s. Uncle Sam, in his infinite wisdom, would not let us use civilian safety gear till several members of the team were severely injured. No yuppies here, just common sense. Marshall '95 KLXC3

Some days are for productivity, others are not. Today was for concreting in the escape tunnels the dogs dug last night to chase the local wildlife, and for pissing people off with my weird sense of humor. -- bierdo
