Okay Bogdan, Ya gotta weigh in on this one. If the light coming out of your PIAA bulb is already going the "speed of light" and then you jump on your trusty KLR and whip down the road at 65mph, is the light now going "the speed of light PLUS 65mph" thus screwing with the theory of relativity? I would test this out myself, but the snow has packed in for good now and all I can do is shovel snow to get to my bikes. I did let out the old summer air in my tires and refilled it with winter air. Good lord..I hate snow. I rode last week in it and I think most of my friends were ready to have me committed. Oh well, back to the Canadian Mist. Getting comfort where ever I can. Lordy, I love this group!!!!! Maybe I can order something else from Fred for my KLR and pretend I'm riding. Sorry, the speed of light ("C") is the only speed limit that really must be obeyed (unless you're some newly discovered subatomic particle). There may be a doppler shift in the spectral properties of the light you're emitting, as seen by relatively stationary folks, but you'd have to be going awfully fast for it to matter. Actually, The theory of relativity implies that a moving light source will move away from the source at the speed of light. So the light on your KLR can achieve C+107 mph....with stock gearing that is..... Jody A15

I can't believe I'm doing this... The speed of light is finite. That is to say, it does not increase based on the velocity of the object it was emitted from. If you are travelling at the speed of light and emit a beam of light, would that beam of light now be travelling at twice the speed of light? Nope, impossible. And now, back to our show. Hmm, scientists managed to get light to travel at multiple times the speed of light. They passed the light through some gas. Can not remember what it was. The gas was said to somehow shift frequency versus speed. Increasing the bandwidth in fiber optics was the goal anyway. Figured I'd test this, imprecisely of course. Installed the PIAA bulb; set up two cameras, one still the other video, and programmed them to shoot simultaneously, I jumped on the klr and rode past at 65mph. As often happens when I do scientific/mechanical work things got messed up. I was shocked that the video and still film registered nothing. In retrospect it's easy to see what happened. I was violating Planck's quantum theory that sez you can't simultaneously chart a klr moving and where it is at a particular time. Anyway, this all depends on perception and according to the Evolution of the Species I'm not evolved enough to see this stuff. Then again, I'm created by God and She can make me see whatever She feels like. Just a hunch, but I believe a PIAA bulb can emit faster than the stock speed of light if it's re-jetted. Bogdan
