moab get-together timing

Post by punkynsquirt@cs.com » Fri Dec 08, 2000 9:22 am

Hi all: I like Kurt's idea of more than one Moab gathering each year. Personally, next year, I could only do the first week of September when I'm coming down from Alaska and Canada on the way to South America (SA). I know Gino is not going to set the date to accommodate me, so I hope to see y'all when I get back from SA. I'll see those of you who will be on my route and offered to accommodate Punky and I during our Americas Motopaseo. Thanks again to the many who invited us. All great ideas gang. Trouble is, I don't see anyone except for Kurt and Fred, who already do alot of work, stepping up to the plate to coordinate this stuff. MR ___ MR, have you introduced yourself to the group? You're not Jennifer are you? (g) Kurt

I'm trying to retain some anonymity as my reputation has preceeded me in some instances. In other words, I'm trying to turn a new leaf here. I'm also getting rid AOL at the end of the year, so k650dsn@... will not be working anymore. But for those who haven't figured it out yet.. MR=Gino

Did this all happen after you went to the mall for that makeover? How does the new toupee work with your helmet? Bogdan

How'd you know I got a new rug? Ever since the camel left, I needed something fuzzy. MR

Hi Gino - I would be glad to help with the Moab get-together. My work is very busy now but I have time to do flyers and mailings. There's a Kinko's near me in Glendale (LA area) so I can get copies, and I have a friend who might help with some art. I have to ask her first. -Jennifer

I'd love to be part of a summer or early fall get-together of KLR folks in Moab. I'm sure we can find someone local who can show us the ropes suitable for these bikes. I think mid-sept might be the best overall combo of low crowds, nice weather, and fall colors. I might even put together a group that would ride from the Pac NW and combine with the air races in Reno, which I hear are incredible. - Mark (no KLR yet, but just about to pull trigger)

Fred's backyard is basically a year round Moab gathering. Anyone who shows up in Moab should always check-in with Fred to see who, what, and where is currently occupying the year-round Moab rally space. I think one official rally is more than enough. I was there first week of October this year, and I can vouch for the weather being as close to perfect as possible while I was there. I still want to get there this spring. I just may not be able to hold out until June, I think about going back every day! And to rub it in, a buddy of mine is headed for the area for 3 WEEKS starting around chritmas time. If you locals see a guy riding a XR600 with Ontario plates, that'll be him. Karl

fur them flat tars ya git sumtimes. Steve, Ah totes 'em out here in Californy, 'spechally when I go off to Adhaho or sum udder place what's a long ways from home. Ah takes 'em in my lil fold-up tool kit, what I got from "Roadgear" though there are others what makes 'em. Ah use a lil trigger-type gun what holds them catriges and screws onta the tar valve, so the dang thing don't leak to awful much lak them BMW ones do. Them cordura fold-up tool bags are purty good, I keeps a bunch o stuf in there, a few sockets, tar arns, combo wrenches, balin war, duck tape, cable luber, cable ties, and what-all. Backroad Bill Tossin the dogs some bits, off the trailer porch....enjoyin the nice weather....it ain't rainin, and it aint' snowin. It's goina be sunny in the mornin, I jes noe it.
