My birth saved my father's ass from going to Vietnam, both grandfathers were in WWII. Me, I was born to be a Marine, until I found out that no military service accepts diabetics. There is no person, alive or dead, I respect more than my grandfathers. They both went through extremely horrid periods of time during that war, one in a concentration camp after capture, and one nearly died numerous times in battle. They both paid a high price with lifelong painful injuries that happened during the war. They both went on to lead successful lives, and successful families. All this without any bitching or moaning about the wrongs that were done to them (this in reference to the perpetual pathetic "racial" bullshit we all must endure every day). They came from Poland, screwed by the Germans and Russians, and Ireland, screwed by the English and Americans. I do my own thanks during Veterans' Day, and wasn't going to post anything because it is personal for me. But then that Fonda thing. Some people are so far gone, I just don't understand. Thank you all, without whom, I wouldn't be free to bitch and moan about petty things , and this entire world would be a much bigger mess than it is right now. I assume from this posting that Eric's death was Diabetes related. I've lost three close friends in the past two years to this horrible disease and each time I hear of another passing because no cure can be found my frustration increases. It makes one feel so damned helpless. Ed Windsor Ohio

I was unaware that Eric was diabetic. Since I started working in the healthcare industry, it has become painfully obvious that the dramatic growth in numbers of people afflicted with diabetes is a huge concern, especially in the Southwest. Eric's presence will be missed on this list. Gino
