I would like to know if there are any "hams" in the collective that have mounted
a Mobile or an HT to their bikes. I am familiar with the Chatter Box but would
prefer to use existing equipment for the task if possible.
The questions in specific are:
Has anyone used a speaker-mic successfully while at speed on asphalt?
How about a mobile antenna mounted perhaps to the rack?
My friend on his DR and I (A - 14) on weekends sometimes put 200 to 300 miles
exploring for hidden trails through the Florida Everglades, Indian reserves, Big
Cyprus etc. I seems like a good idea to have our Ht to communicate and also for
autopatch use to call say, home if need be.

cheap-a$$ saddle bags
Picked up a couple of miltary surplus backpacks for $30 (for the pair) and
they are gonna work great as saddlebags. They're small enough that if I need
to get some bigger ones they'll also work as tank panniers. The straps are
padded and have metal clips on one end so I can easily strap 'em together
for throwin' over or use them as backpacks when we get "there". I saw some
bigger ones that had semi-hard-sides on the bottom and the back of the bag.
They were $26/ea. and would have required a little more work to join
together for use. They might be good If I need more room.

Kyle,
I think the set-up would be simple. My concern is if the speaker mic could be
heard or spoken into it and be heard while at speed. I would clip the speaker
mic to my collar right under the helmet.
If you could test this before I do this weekend let me know who it went.
Thanks,
Peter
