question 2
Cool, Ok, next question, while I'm thinkin bout it.
Does anyone here use ONLY their klr or another motorcycle to get
around (besides rides from friends and such)? I'm thinking about
selling my car to help pay off the bike faster, and am wondering if I
can survive the *cough* horrid weather of north texas on the bike
alone.
Thanks,
DXK

question 2
Hey.. I live In Montreal, CANADA. Today it was -2Celcius (below freezing point) and I still did a 100 mile trip and puled nice wheelies. Sure you can survive with only your bike. Some people ride even at -10 celcius in snow!! Go ahead and sell your cage. Raz A8> Does anyone here use ONLY their klr or another motorcycle to get > around (besides rides from friends and such)? question 2
I used to get around on a motorcycle only. Now I have a car too, but it
sits idle for weeks, sometimes months, at a time. The KLR is on the road 5
days a week, at least, here in the Seattle area (periods of freezing weather
in December and January excepted).

My car sits and rots in the driveway as I prefer my KLRs for daily commuting in all weather including snow on the road and temps as low as 15F. I'm in central PA and my morning commute is 13 miles with 4 of it off-road if I elect to do so. Ok, here's the deal...
'01 KLR-650, 4 weeks old.... 3000 miles!!!
I've been caought in the rain a couple o'times, it's not so bad.
If I were you, I'd "be a man" and ditch the car. you can always
scrounge and but a beater for the winter if it gets too tough. but,
in the meantime, you can double your payments for a few months, to
get ahead!!!
ride, ride, Looow Ride!!

question 2
I just sold my POS cage about 2 months ago and I haven't looked
back. Commuting on the bike is excellent if sometimes a little dangerous
here in Washington DC. My recommendation is do it but make sure that you
get good riding gear as there is nothing worse than waking up to a cold
rainy day and having to drive 45 minutes in it to work. Especially if you
are in a metro area like mine, look into a Givi tailcase so that you have
some quick easy lockable luggage on your bike should you need to leave
your helmet and gear on your bike. Also look into getting a reflective
vest to wear over your gear, I think the company I am thinking of is
called safety-brite or something.... a lister posted their URL a week or
so ago... They make awesome, cheap vests which will be a life saver if you
are riding at dusk or dawn when the cagers can't see anything. But most of
all ride paranoid and never ever think that you're safe... Damn cagers on
their cell phones and triple lattes are always trying to kill me.... I
think it is a conspiracy
Best of luck with the decision, and remember that even if your
co-workers think you're crazy for commuting on your KLR, they're all
secretly jealous of your cahones.
