How's this for a highly technical question!
Seriously, I just got a '01 KLR on Saturday. The owners manual
doesn't say how to remove the seat.
Thanks,

how do i remove the seat on my new klr?
Well Jay. You should start by the front. Remove the front fairing, this will give u access to the light assembly. Next remove the guages, they tend to get in the way. Now you need to check if the chain is tight. If not remove the starter and inspect the spark plug it may be faulty. When all of the above is done, run a full 567 point inspection. Compression, electrical load, fluid levels, check if both wheel are on the bike and so on. Just kidding........ remove the two side panels (4 bolts) and you will see the two bolts holding the seat. Remove them and lift the seat by the back and slide it backwards. Voila! Now your ready for a valve adjustment. You know how it goes. You start by the seat, next is the chain then the starter and next thing you know you have a F #King BIG piston in your hands. Take care and remember. If it`s not broken, take it apart and inspect it. maybe it is broken! Raz A8>How's this for a highly technical question! > > Seriously, I just got a '01 KLR on Saturday. Kurt and others,
Try Works Performance - I bought a whole shock from
them. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly what I got in terms of rear spring,
but I do know it is a single rate. These guys do a custom job for every shock
they sell, and will quiz you on weight, type of riding etc before selecting
specs. They may be able to do just the single rate spring for you.
