============================================================ Dennis, Thanks for the info, I just sent the following message to the egroups "STATUS" people: re: DSN_KLR650 group & no email deliver since Sept 8th. Brandon, Below is a copy of an email I posted to our group today. I just learned about the "STATUS" area from another lister & hope that you can help us out. No-one from our group has received ANY responses from eGroups since we stopped receiving email last friday. I don't understand why we can receive occasional eGroups 'marketing' emails, but no notification of problems that may impact us. Please contact our list and update us on when we can expect to resume receiving email, digest and/or individual. Thank you for your help. Jim Hyman ============================================================ ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!! It has been over a week since we 'lost' our email delivery. eGroups has not responded to any of my emails to their support group and we have not received any info from them about the email problem. From the eGroups-KLR web-list, you can go to the bottom of any screen & click on "CONTACT US". On the next screen, you can click on "SUPPORT FORM" or "SUGGESTIONS" & let 'er rip. While 800 members out of 4+ million is a drop in the bucket, no reputable business wants pissed off customers. My next email to them will "congratulate" them on the unresponsiveness, inability to fix problems in a timely manner, and tell them that creating any NEW groups in the future will NOT include eGroups for consideration. Based on the low number of posts over the last week, many listers may not know that the web-list is up & running, but not delivering email. Feel free to cut & paste this message and send it to other listers & add your 2 cents worth. Professor (mad as hell & not gonna take it anymore!!!) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ --- Brandon Long wrote:

It was interesting reading Brandon Long blong@egroups (not sure what a long blong is, but wish I had one) engineering's nice reply to Jim's complaint assuring him that all would be well and back to normal within 2-3 hours on Wednesday, Sept. 13. This is early Sunday, Sept. 17, and still no e-mail messages. I got a lame reply from egroups customer support implying that perhaps I had not subscribed or instructed the system to send me e-mails. I sent them four more complaints trying to impress them with the fact that there is something wrong here and I am not the only one experiencing the difficulty. I told them that traffic on the list was reduced to little more than members complaining of no e-mail. This sucks! Lew Waterman Punky & Lew's Americas Motopaseo

Lew, I have NOT received any replies from my two emails that were sent to "eGroups-support". Dennis' post today mentioned the "eGroups-status" group and I merely REPLIED to one of Brandon's messages that is sent to that group. Given the minimal number of messages, I'm going to "join" this group and receive individual messages from Brandon's tech team. I'd suggest that 10 or 20 of us "join" this group (especially those that receive individual messages) so that they can forward the message to us. I receive my messages in "digest" mode, so I would not be a good 'group monitor'. I will forward any eGoup reply to the list, if I get one. As Dennis said in an off list reply: "Well put. Now all we need is about 798 more enraged listers to complain." From the miniscule amount of postings since this garbage started, I'm assuming that many (most?) listers aren't aware that the list is alive and functioning (without email delivery). We need to contact listers who aren't aware of the situation. If Arnie can (easily) send a broadcast to the KORG (I hate that term!) that spells out the situation (i.e. web-only access), part of our problem is solved. There is a lot of off-list email between listers. Why don't we each email all listers who have contacted each of us with a short message, such as: --------------------------------------------------------------- DSN_KLR650 is alive and constipated (we can't get anything out, email-wise). Email delivery for some groups has ceased since Friday, September 8th. You can view & post messages by logging on to our list at eGroups. We need ALL 799 listers to contact egroups by going to: http://www.egroups.com/group/eGroups-status and replying to any of the messages. If you really want to vent, click on the "CONTACT US" link at the bottom of the page & email each eGroups link on that page. --------------------------------------------------------------- Feel free to cut & paste any part of this message for broadcast. fork disassembly tool

Post by Russell A Locke » Sun Sep 17, 2000 7:16 pm

Does anyone know the size of the "nut" on the business end of the tool used to hold the innards of the fork while loosening the hex bolt? I can't get it to let go and really don't want to buy the tool. New Progressive springs are ready to go in but seals have to be replaced first. I've searched the archives and found one tip on using a broomstick. I don't know but suspect that mine may need to be held more firmly than the stick will offer. I built the tool for my FJ years ago but no longer have it and doubt if it would fit anyway. Russ Locke Chandler, AZ '97 R1100RT, 96 KDX 200, '85 FJ1100, '98.5 Ural hack, KLR 650 A-12
