which compressor to take for a transcontinental ?

Post by brar@altair.com » Thu Sep 14, 2000 5:57 pm

Hello People, Here we go again, So far, I've changed my tires ( michelin T-66's ) and the battery - Westco ( Thankyou again Phil ) based on the advice/information from here. This time it's about the air compressor. Is there a good, sturdy, light weight compact brand available for taking along. This is for a journey later this year which was being planned. I'd be in North Africa heading for the far east. The cheap 'made in china' brands at the local super market looked a bit flimsy as far as durability goes. Thank you, Brar 98 KLR 650

Are you talking about air compressors? If so, try taking a simple bicycle hand pump along. I use a good quality double action one (pumps air on both strokes) and it inflates very well. It'd take a few minutes to pump up a completely flat rear tire, but it works well and is as reliable as a pump can be. Lighter and packs smaller too. FWIW Karl
