[dsn_klr650] aerostich earning my business (nklr)

Post by Jim Jackson » Thu Sep 07, 2000 4:53 pm

Well, I've had my Darien jacket and pants for a couple of months now and have decided after a very short ride with the pants that they were just too small. I ordered a 34/Regular but since I wear 34/32 pants they just wouldn't go over anything but biking shorts. Not exactly what I can wear to work heh heh heh... Guess my tukas is widening out as I age... At any rate, Aerostich's policy is 30 days but I explained to Randy that I had only worn them for 20 minutes and could I at least trade them in for partial credit against a pair of 36 Regulars? He asked for my number and said he would talk to a supervisor. He called back within the hour and said that they would trade directly for a new pair with the possible exception of a cleaning fee. This is totally outside of their policy but they are hooking me up anyway. I am so thankful for the advice from the collective on my Darien purchase. I will positively never own anything but Aerostich riding gear! Everything except their delivery time is absolutely first rate and that's forgiveable since it's so well made! So does anyone wear my size that has Darien pants? What size fits you best? I'm wondering whether I should go for Regular or Long 36's. Thanks again, Jim Jackson II A13 "Gonzo" South Carolina _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at http://profiles.msn.com

klr vs. f650 in speed - no contest!

Post by Tom Vervaeke » Fri Sep 08, 2000 7:37 am

Hello: Last weekend while out playing in the dirt with a bunch of KLR's and an F650 from a buddy of mine I wanted to see which bike was faster - in a straight line. We were almost done riding the dirt and were heading back to civilization on a 3 mile long straight dirt road. I came alongside the F650 and made the "Lets get it on sign". I never did catch that F650. He would sit just in front of me. Everytime I closed a bit he'd look back, make a funny smile, and then go a bit faster. Just teasing like. So, IMHO, the F650 has more HP on tap that a KLR, at least a stock one like mine. Regarding the F650GS issue, it is a tragedy. However, I've owned my BMW R1100GS for 3 1/2 years now and I'm used to dealing with BMW NA. While I too love my BMW I will never spend a single $1 on a new BMW again. BMW and BMW NA (IMHO) don't take care of their customers. In several situations I was left to deal with major problems on my own even after the BMW rep for Colorado admitted 1 of my problems was a manufacturing defect. Burn me once and I'm gone. So far the KLR is doing just what most Japanese bikes do: run, run, run.... And that's why I got it. And, it's so simple to work on.
