You also have to loosen the top set of triple-clamp bolts as you will be
pulling the top triple clamp down onto the bearings.

Dan,
Had a similar thought recently - investigated a little to see
just what one would cost kitted out etc - check out some of the posts at
the Chain Gang - a whole heap of people waited an entire summer for
delivery, only to have BMW freeze sales because of a recall - and
wouldn't even explain to their dealers what the problem was! Totally
arrogant and zero customer service on their part. The f650 was a
marginal seller in the US when it was a decent (but expensive) on-road
bike - I think its doomed now that they have had so many problems. Many
of the posters had pulled their deposit on this bike which is sitting at
the dealers but unable to be 'bought', in search of another bike.
Interesting, that some of these listed the KLR as a non-option because
it was really 'a dirt bike', or they couldn't abide the color scheme.
Interesting what makes some tick....
