cleaning stock or foam filters
Best way is the old tried and true of hot soapy water, wring dry in a
bath towel, Re-oil ( I use just plain old motor oil seems like forever
ha ha ha ) , wring it out with another Towel, reinstall.

vibration & heated grips?
without killing the battery? >>> One thing I plan to do for sure is > add some heated grips, any one know if I can run those and a vest
on them > if one of the listers from the Great White North doesn't pipe up with their > experiences.> Not tried heated grips/vests. You can check the archives for info

Sure! With the Gerbing jacket, gloves and socks that I use on another bike too along witht the basic on/off rocker switch I can ride in warmth on the KLR. Surprisingly the bike handles this load OK on the short trips I have done with no adverse effects on ability of the battery to start/turn the bike over after a stop. Not sure if a long trip would be different. I do switch the electric warmth off at low rpm situations and usually have to cycle it anyway as it is too warm to have it on all the time.
