The bar ends are cheap (around 10 USD) and an easy add on.
You'll have to cut the end from your grips, clean out the excess glue left
by Kawasaki on the inside left end of the handlebar (can use a drill, stout
knife) & will have to cut about one quarter inch from the plastic throttle
sleeve on the right end, making the throttle sleeve just short of even with
the end of the handlebar. Drill out the end of the plastic throttle sleeve
first..that you can see the relationship of the handlebar to the throttle
sleeve. (I used a hacksaw with fine blade for cutting grip ends & bit of
throttle sleeve off, then cleaned up with an exacto blade).
Installing the bar ends is basically pushing them into the end of your
handlebar, then tightening the screw on the bar end (compressing the rubber
spacer on it, causing it to expand & hold tight to the inside of the
handlebar) Make Sure that you're throttle's working freely, without Any
resistance from the bar end when all's done. And if you decide to go with
some sort of bark busters later on, you'll be half way there, already having
your handlebar ends opened up.
Have not tried filling the bars with any substance, other listers have, and
said it works real well.
One thing I plan to do for sure is
add some heated grips, any one know if I can run those and a vest without
killing the battery? >>
Not tried heated grips/vests. You can check the archives for info on them
if one of the listers from the Great White North doesn't pipe up with their
experiences.
All best
