This is a page that summarizes the findings from the Hurt Study. Yeah, Harry Hurt was his real name. Anyway, it was a study done on motorcycle accidents. They went out and dissected 4,500 accidents. They found some amazing things my fav's are... ---In the single vehicle accidents, motorcycle rider error was present as the accident precipitating factor in about two-thirds of the cases. ---The motorcycle riders involved in accidents are essentially without training; 92% were self-taught or learned from family or friends. ---More than half of the accident-involved motorcycle riders had less than 5 months experience on the accident motorcycle,... Motorcycle riders with dirt bike experience are significantly underrepresented in the accident data. ---Lack of attention to the driving task is a common factor for the motorcyclist in an accident. I've actually read through the report and I recall that they also said that in around 30% of the investigated events the rider did nothing to avoid the accident. I guess that's the "Oh S#!T!!!" reflex http://rmr.cecm.sfu.ca/RMR/hurt.html "Well, little missie, then I just had to lay it down" Uh huh..... Melinda Evans

Although I didn't vote for KORG, I believe in: truth, justice, and the international way. If the vocal minority wants KORG, I'm all for it. The KORGs should have an initiation rite before wearing the patch (like patching a rear tire or riding to MOAB). I hope the KORG sticker isn't too flashy, after all, I got the Y2K so I could blend in with the vegetation. The logo can be in a constant state of change (like the colors of the KLRs) to reflect the changing world we travel. Maybe we can get a KORG helpers list like the Beemers have so if we have problems away from home we will be able to call a local KORG member for assistance. DSN could publish the phone numbers once a year. I hope the KORG name will solidify the Listers into an ever growing family of motorcycle travelers who stand for loyalty to the KLR, compassion for their fellow riders (I can always use help picking mine up), the search for adventure, and a thirst for more power.
