No my name is not Bob Karol and I'm not Geno or whatever that other persons name was. IS this some kind of inside joke on this list? I really did not mean to offend anyone by my posts and apologize for any hurt feelings. But facts are facts. Yes the BMW is expensive and takes talent to ride off road. But please don't blame me for your inadequacies. I take it there will be some lady riders at Moab. That means there will be some easy rides? Who is in charge of coordinating the rides there?

Now he's calling our women easy. This dude knows no boundaries. apology
Greetings,
Thank you for the kind messages I have received from many of you in response
to my recent post regarding Mr.. Shepard and his bad experience with law
enforcement officers. I must apologize to the group for not responding
privately to Mr.. Shepard's statement and starting this long thread. Now
let us get on with the reason why you and I joined this list; our love of
motorcycling and dualsporting!

Too all: I wish I could remember where/who on the web I got this idea from,
but I do recall he said it has been used by BMW riders. I just built this
super tool carrier and plan to use it on a 2-3 year klr650 tour of N./S.
Americas. The thing is so simple, cheap (about $20) and effective that I can
hardly believe it. Went to Home Depot and bought a 20" long x 4" diameter PVC
pipe, 2 red flush end caps (fit inside not outside) with expandable rubber
seals and a wing nut tightener, 2 lock washers, 1 can of black glossy epoxy
appliance paint and 2 - 6" stainless steel hose-type clamps. Assembly I don't
think needs explaining and, using the hose-type clamps, it mounts nicely to
Dual Star's highway pegs cross bar. This keeps about 10 lb. low and forward
where I need it (a ton of stuff will be on the back) and is large enough to
carry all the tools I want. It's sturdy as hell and waterproof. I hope
somebody else can use this info. I am going to try something else different.
I have 2 sets of Kawasaki's soft bags and intend to try lengthening the strap
that goes over the seat with the idea of using my Rev-Pak inverted U-shape
duffle bag and slinging the other set of bags fore and aft over the duffle. I
think there will be room with the duffle moved back a bit to use what will be
the forward bag as a back rest. I also have Kawi's tank bag (going to do the
goo fix on the window) and Aerostich's large tank panniers. My 7 lb. Yorkie
"Punky" will ride on my chest in a sort of papoose kind of thing that straps
to my body and shoulders. I will be taking so much stuff that I am sure to be
pushing the load limit of the bike, which I believe is somewhere just under
700 lbs.
