tech - help

Post by Ed Boyd » Wed Aug 30, 2000 4:00 pm

SuperTrapp chime in question (nklr) I think there is always a certain amount of drag with wet clutches, even when the oil is warmed up. When the bike is in gear, and you have the clutch in, say at a stop light, you don't notice it. But take that same bike, and flop it over on its side on the trail, (preferably onto your MX Commando World Touring Everest Hiking Squirrel Hunting boot shod foot, so you won't scratch your paint), and if the bike is still running, if you pull in the clutch, the rear wheel will keep spinning. You can see the same effect if you jack the bike up in the garage, start it, pop it in gear, and hold the clutch in (the way some folks do to oil the chain). BTW, I'm not recommending this method for oiling your chain, as a runaway 400+ lb. bike is no fun.
