[dsn_klr650] advice, please.....warranty?

Post by Errett, Brian S » Tue Aug 29, 2000 5:34 pm

I have also had a shift lever fail - I bought another of the same as I was in a pinch to get it going again and they had the stock one in... But it looks like the same cheesy weld job... Where did you get the White brothers lever? Thanks! -Brian E. A14 Tijeras, NM -----Original Message----- From: mule2b@... [mailto:mule2b@...] Sent: August 29, 2000 4:09 PM To: dsn_klr650@egroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] Advice, please.....Warranty? Howdy again- I ordered a pair of Pirelli MT70s from Chaparral. Should have them for installation next week. When I do go back to my authorized Kawasaki dealer/service center next week, I'm going to be inquiring about warranty coverage for a second defective shift lever (got credit for the first one, now the second one has broken in the same spot: anyone else had this problem?). I've since installed a White Brothers lever and it looks like a much more reliable piece of metal. Also, tweety has arrived, and I'd like to hear anyone's experience or advice about getting Kawasaki to cover a replacement exhaust under warranty. As of now, my 1 year warranty expired two days ago. Am I entitled to a second replacement lever and an exhaust system? How is Kawasaki about these things? I'll let everyone know what the Pirellis are like............... Thanx in advance- Steve "The Mule" A14 Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@... Let's keep this list SPAM free! Never try to understand the Oriental mind, but, Do ya reckon they designed the shift lever weld to fail before the shifter shaft would bend or break? Inquiring rednecks would like to know...James in S.C.

That was my thought. So I purchased the shaft bending model so I wouldn't have to worry. Actually I don't think it will be a problem. -----Original Message----- From: JIM JAMES [mailto:jfjames@...] Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2000 8:18 PM To: dsn_klr650@egroups.com; 'Fred Hink' Cc: 'Harry Thames' Subject: RE: [DSN_klr650] Advice, please.....Warranty? Brian and Jim- Both my stock shift levers broke at that first bend just after the shaft mount(not the weld). Same for any others out there? Steve "The Mule" A14
