Split fire plugs are a total hoax. Electricity takes the path of least
resistance and jumps through air at approximately 50,000 volts per inch.
Electricity doesn't split off into multiple fronts. Even multi-electrode
plugs draw a single arc but they have an advantage in that each gap wears
evenly maintaining correct plug gap for a longer time.
As previously noted by Rev. Chuck, whatever it is that Direct Hits does, it
can't add extra energy since it is an inline and a totally passive device.
If something that simple would make a difference, every spark plug
manufacturer would jump on the bandwagon and incorporate its magic. The
spark plug business is very competitive and it would cost little to
manufacture that directly into what is in fact a sophisticated device.
As previously noted in my long trip diatribes, I bought into the Electrex's
superior stator hype. I spoke with Electrex today and requested a refund.
No questions asked, just send it in. I think this is a reasonable response
although it doesn't lessen my hassle factor. It redeems them about as much
as I can reasonably expect and spares them from my venomous wrath. I think
they realize the power of the Internet.

direct hits--on order
As you may recall, I've been find the source of a weak-spark condition on my
A13. I might have moved in the right direction by cleaning half of Utah out
of my kill switch. But, I doubt it. That's just too easy. Besides, the weak
spark/starting problem is a hot condition; and wouldn't a poor ground be a
problem hot or cold?
Anyway, I talked with the Direct Hits distributor this afternoon and ordered
the setup for my KLR650. He was honest and said a Direct Hit wouldn't "fix"
the problem. My feeling is, for $24.00, if it alleviates the problem, hot
damn. That's a quick, easy, cheap fix. And I'm a sucker for easy and cheap.
I'll let you know.
