[dsn_klr650] new a-15 check recovery tank
seems like kawasaki dealers dont like attaching the return hose properly to
the recovery tank. I had the same problem. They also took the liberty to
cross-thread my recovery tank cap... thanks guys.

[dsn_klr650] new a-15 check recovery tank
I also had the same thing happen to my A14 following it's first maintainence. I drove the bike 50 miles to a shop I thought I could trust and on the way back stopped for a snack. While returning to the bike I spotted all the white splashed stuff all over the front of the motor and some down the right side of the bike. Closer inspection reveled that this was not due to some road trash and I also found green fluid slowly dripping from the bottom of the coolant overflow tank. Well just how does green fluid relate to the white stuff all over the motor I thought? SO I rubbed some of the green coolant on the hot exhaust and what do you know... it turned white. Turns out that the shop I thought I could trust spilled coolant all over the top of the overflow and left the cap loose. I am just happy I did not lose the cap. Wonder if they really checked the valve clearances?? I just wanted to get the 500 mile maintenance done by, dare I say, the qualified guys. From here on out it is only touched by me!! Chuck

problems turning bars
I'll betcha I know what it is!!!
Check out the bracket that is directly under the instruments, the one that
the instrument and control harnesses plug into the main harness. You will
find that lord Kawasaki, in his infinite wisdom, made a sharp edge on the
rearward facing part of said bracket. This tends to abrade through the
crappy electrical tape of the harness and shorts out the wiring. I took my
bracket off and filed the edge down smooth. I then glued on a smidge of
grommet strip and riveted then ends down for extra measure. Voila!
Oh, and you gotta re-do the wiring that got chafed. Not to mention replace
that crappy tape with some REAL heavy duty shrink wrap. Then zip tie the
harness to act as a strain relief.

these posts bring to mind an old problem with my klr which continues. when
i turn my bars to one side or the other, i lose all the electric to the
"dash". the neutral light goes out (if it was on), the gauge lights go out
and the tach goes out or malfunctions (like the power to it is sputtering).
i tried playing with the connections under the fairing a bit but all seemed
ok. any similar experiences?
