In my two trips to the Surgis rally way back in 1981 &'82 I don't believe I ever saw any motorcycles being trailered in. The thing that turned me on about the whole deal was the trip out there and back. Just knowing that it was just you and your motorcycle all the way. I slept many times by just rolling out my sleeping bag at rest areas, side of the road or while in Sturgis, anyplace you could find. As for riding in or around Sturgis, forget it unless you rode over to Wyoming or somewhere way off from downtown Sturgis. I wouldn't go back now if someone paid the way. It's all about "look at me, ain't I cool, hey I'm a biker" . I guess with the Evolution engine came the Evolution Harley rider. Now , I see the Harley riders riding in shorts and Nikes on a $18,000 noisemaker. I don't get it..............!?
