logging (political)

Post by Karl Raupp » Mon Aug 14, 2000 9:43 pm

I'll second that. When I was in Michigan last month, I saw for the first time with my own eyes some fresh clearcut. I've never seen anything stripped so bear. NOTHING was left except dirt and stumps. No bushes, no moss, no twigs, no nothing. Why do they have to clean an area out completely to lumber the trees? It caught me by surprise. I'm not even going to get into topsoil erosion, habitat loss, etc, blah blah blah. Fires are a normal cycle of the forests. They allow it to reseed itself and ashes are good nutrients for regrowth. Vote me for president! Karl
